My friend Daniel is unique. When he wanted me to design a personal blog for him to write about all the things he’s passionate about (and he’s passionate about a lot of things), I knew it needed to stand out the way he does. The website itself is fairly simple, but I felt that we landed on a great colour-scheme and font combination that represents him.
The heading font, Canela, is an elegant modern serif typeface that I paired with Bricolage Grotesque, an accessible sans-serif I thought had some interesting characters. The colour scheme is based off of the image in the hero section – the sun setting behind the Dolomites in Italy.
It’s a project we’ve thought about doing for years but I’ve been putting off for a while feeling that it needed to be perfect (he is one of my best friends, after all). Once I landed on the fonts and colour scheme, everything fell into place and the site was live in a few hours.
